The first ice on Lake Baikal is thin, smooth and very transparent, which allows you to create fantastic pictures. This does not last very long, then the ice becomes thicker and is covered with many cracks. On the first ice, you can safely move only on an air cushion (Khivus) or on foot, which allows you to be the first to visit and shoot untouched grottoes and caves.
